BOSTON, May 29, 2014—Lawyers for the Pelletier family will file a new motion today, noting the change in circumstances resulting from Justina’s transfer to Connecticut and requesting an immediate return of Justina to the Pelletiers’ competent custody and care.

The motion will be filed on May 30th, at 1:00 P.M. at the Edward W. Brooke Courthouse on 24 New Chardon Street, Boston. Liberty Counsel, which is representing the Pelletier family, and Rev. Patrick Mahoney, family spokesperson, will hold a news conference in front of the court at 1:30 P.M. after the filing.

Lou and Linda Pelletier, the parents of Justina, will be meeting with the Tufts medical team and DCF on Friday morning to complete the final element of the DCF reunification plan.

Rev. Patrick Mahoney said, “For 15 months, the Pelletier family has been living the worst kind of nightmare after their daughter Justina was unjustly taken from their home by DCF. Our hope and prayer is that DCF finally does the right thing and releases Justina immediately to allow her and the family to begin the healing process and move forward with their lives.”

Mahoney continued, “After meeting with the Tufts medical team and DCF, the Pelletiers will have completed all the elements put forward in the reunification plan submitted by HHS Secretary Polanowicz and DCF. In light of this, this is no reason why Justina should not be returned immediately into the loving arms of her family and have this tragedy come to an end.”
